Bow-sided Carriage Clock with Decorative Dial
A large bow-sided French carriage clock with a decorative porcelain black dial.

The eight-day duration movement has a silvered platform lever escapement and strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong, with push-button repeat at will to the top, and is numbered 1659. There is a further subsidiary alarm dial, the decoration matching that of the main dial.
This substantial and very impressive clock has bowed sides with spiral Corinthian columns to the four corners. The main dial is signed with the retailer's name Marcks & Co Ltd. Bombay & Poona, well-known retailers of the period who sold both clocks and watches made by a number of the better makers in both France and Switzerland, including LeCoultre in later years.
