Drocourt, Paris: A Rare Miniature Tortoiseshell Carriage Clock

A rare miniature tortoiseshell carriage clock by Drocourt of Paris with an eight-day duration timepiece movement which has a platform lever escapement. The backplate is stamped with the serial number 18609 along with the trademark for Drocourt, the initials D.C. either side of a clock, with the inside of the plates stamped with a further oval with the wording Drocourt, Paris, Fnt, (Fabricant or Maker) and the movement serial number 5161.

The tortoiseshell dial has red Roman hour numerals, batons to the outer aspect and gilt-brass spade hands.

The Bambu case is of a style typical of this maker although rare in this miniature form and in tortoiseshell.
